ooc; hmm idk if i want to join... what is the play about?

The play's setting is in Athens, Greece and has three (well, actually about four) different ongoing plots:

1. Lysander and Hermia want to get married, but Egeus (Hermia's father) doesn't approve and wants Hermia to marry Demetrius, who's in love with her. When Hermia refuses, Egeus begs the ancient privelege of Athens which basically means that Hermia has to either marry Demetrius, become a nun (kinda of like a nun in our time, but not exactly the same), or die. So Lysander and Hermia decide to secretly flee Athens and get married anyway. But Hermia tells Helena, a close friend of hers, of their plan, which was a bad choice. Helena then tells Demetrius, hoping that she will win his favor, but Demetrius ends up going after Hermia, with Helena close behind. When Lysander and Hermia stop to rest, Puck, one of the fairies, puts a spell on Lysander, so that the first person that Lysander sees he will fall in love with them. Well, Helena finds Lysander, and thinks he might be dead, so she wakes him up, and Lysander falls in love with her. Then the same thing happens to Demetrius, and he wakes up and sees Helena, and immediately falls in love with her. Then Hermia wakes up, panics, and starts looking for Lysander. Bla bla bla, the guys start fighting over Helena, etc. In the end, the spell is removed (and Demetrius gets a special dose of it), Lysander and Hermia get married, Demetrius and Helena get married, and everything goes back to normal.

2. Theseus, the Duke of Athens, is getting married to Hippolyta, queen of the Amazon.

3. The "rustics" decide that they want to put on a play for the Duke after the wedding ceremony. So they start rehearsing, and decide to meet in the woods later to practice. While they're rehearsing, Bottom gets turned into a donkey (curtesy of Puck), and the other guys run away scared. In the meantime, Titania, Queen of Fairies, and Oberon, King of Fairies, are in a huge argument over who gets to keep a little orphaned Indian boy (fairies love humans). While in this argument, Titania gets the spell put on her (this time by Oberon) and falls in love with Bottom while he's a donkey. Eventually, Oberon breaks the spell, Titania is returned to normal, and Bottom becomes human again. The "rustics" put on their play, etc.
